Join Dr. Angel Rosario and Mariela Regalado in "Narratives in Medicine: The Role of Storytelling in Healing. "Healing is complex, and despite advances in science, it is clear that medicine and surgery alone are not sufficient for healing. Narrative medicine is a creative tool that leverages stories to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare providers. This unique workshop will provide a reflective and supportive environment where participants will explore the unique challenges associated with receiving medical and surgical care in the community, by sharing personal and observed experiences related to cultural barriers, disparities, and the social determinants that can influence health and illness. Through guided writing exercises and group discussions, writers will craft narratives that spotlight the obstacles and resilience encountered in the pursuit of equitable surgical care.
