2023 Writer's Salon Workshops Series

Publishing your short stories: This session will cover standard formatting for your work, cover letters, and short biographies. We’ll talk about markets, online magazines, and how to write stories that will sell. Last, but not least, we’ll talk about expectations when submitting your work and how to stay organized.

Alex V. Cruz is a Paterson-born, Dominican-raised speculative fiction writer. He writes Dominican Magical Realism and Urban Fantasy. Alex graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University with a degree in Creative Writing and Hispanic Studies. He is a Clarion West alum and a member of Tin House’s 2021 Young Adult Workshops. In 2023, Alex will attend VONA’s summer Writing for Young Adults workshop. He’ll also start his first semester at NYU’s Creative Writing in Spanish Graduate Program. His work has been published by the Acentos Review, SmokeLong en Español, Quislaona: A Dominican Fantasy Anthology, DWA Cuentico’s DE ESO NO SE HABLA, and elsewhere. Alex has two more short stories forthcoming in Somos en Escrito and LatineLit.
