In this workshop, participants will be trained in the fundamentals of archival research and academic writing. How do you write an academic article ready for publication? How do you tell a story told in the archive without simply recounting the facts? Taught by award-winning academic Dr. Margarita Rosa, this workshop is open to all participants who want to engage with the world of academic scholarship as independent scholars or as current scholars in training.
About the Facilitator:
Margarita Lila Rosa is a Harlem-based public scholar and curator specializing in Afro-Latinx, Latinx, and Black Atlantic history and contemporary art. Dr. Rosa’s historical academic scholarship has been published in The Journal of African American History, Slavery & Abolition, and The Black Scholar, among others. Dr. Margarita Lila Rosa was born in the countryside of Tenares, Dominican Republic, in 1993. Raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Rosa received her Ph. D from Princeton University in Comparative Literature (Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese). Her work has been written about in Ebony, Hyperallergic, and Teen Vogue, among others.
