About the Facilitator: Patricia Figueroa is a twenty-four-year-old writer, teacher, content creator, and health and wellness enthusiast. She is currently working on publishing her first poetry book, called My Amalgamation, which includes a collection of poems about the life of a daughter of Dominican immigrants. Writing about the unique experience, Patricita, as Mamá would call her, faced many challenges being black, Latina, and conservative in NYC. The journey of self-discovery and identity has shaped much of her professional and creative work. Finding refuge in journaling and literature, she decided that writing was a way to affirm her identity. After attending Nyack College, receiving an AA is Liberal Arts and biblical studies, she went on to get her bachelor’s degree in History from her dream college, City College of NY. Now, pursuing her masters in teaching, she hopes to teach the intricate beauty of writing our own stories.
