Soy Porque Somos: Writing Queerness, Indigeneity & Blackness
Rooted in the spirit of Pajaros, lesbianas y queers...ja volar!, this generative writing workshop explores the intersections of indigeneity, Blackness, and queerness through a decolonial lens. Drawing on the frameworks of Gloria Anzaldua, Annamarie Jagose, Andrea Smith, and Qwo-Li Driskill, participants will move through reflection and into writing, leaving with several drafted poems, including your own Litany for Survival.
Each participant receives a copy of the anthology.
Facilitated by Scarlet Gomez (she/they) is a queer Dominican poet, writer, zine-maker, and founder of Poetry House LLC, based in the Bronx. Her work has appeared in Philadelphia Stories, The A3 Review, and Femme Dyke Magazine. She is a Hedgebrook alum and is currently at work on her debut novel, No World Without You.
