The parts of ourselves we avoid often hold the greatest creative power. In this workshop, writers will explore the emotions, contradictions, fears, and desires that live beneath the surface.
Through guided exercises, participants will transform personal shadows into characters, conflicts, and compelling narratives. Writers will learn how vulnerability can deepen storytelling and how complexity creates more authentic and memorable work.
By the end of the session, writers will discover that what feels hidden, uncomfortable, or unfinished can become the source of their most powerful stories.
Facilitator: Eli Villamán is a multidisciplinary writer and educator whose work blends literature, visual arts, and storytelling. Trained in narrative and creativity studies, she is a novelist, screenwriter, actress, director, and creative writing teacher. She founded Escribir es HOY and has led creative writing workshops across Europe and the United States, including at Hugo House in Seattle, and has collaborated with the University of Washington.
