2023 Writer's Salon Workshops Series

How has the way you describe yourself and your identities shaped over time and space? This workshop is designed for people who have a relationship to migration and are interested in exploring how their identities and relationship to language and culture evolve as they move across time and space. The workshop will be facilitated in English and Spanish.

Lila Arnaud (English below) Lila es una profesional de la salud pública y trabajadora de la justicia de lenguaje que ha practicado el cuidado de sí misma y de la comunidad durante los últimos 14 años en Nueva Orleans, sirviendo como educadora, intérprete y traductora, trabajadora de la respiración, doula y defensora de la liberación racial y reproductiva. A través de la meditación, la jardinería, la cocina y la escritura, Lila continúa desarrollando una práctica personal y profesional de enraizamiento y centrado; y ofrece sus exploraciones y análisis en conversaciones sobre el crecimiento y el desarrollo personal y colectivo con otros.  Lila escribe: "En la autoexploración profunda. Recorro las curvas de mi universo e imagino los espacios en los que me extenderé. Soy una soñadora. Una futurista. Una inconformista".   

Lila is a public health practitioner and language justice worker who has practiced self and community care for the past 14 years in New Orleans, serving as an educator, interpreter and translator, breath worker, doula, and advocate for racial and reproductive liberation. Through meditation, gardening, cooking and writing, Lila continues to develop a personal and professional practice of grounding and centering; and offers their explorations and analysis in conversations  about personal and collective growth and development with others.    Lila writes: “In deep self-exploration. I travel the curves of my universe and imagine the spaces that I will stretch into. I am a dreamer. A futurist. A non-conformist.”
