A creative writing workshop on immigrant lives, inherited

memory, and the stories we carry in our bodies.

What does it mean to write a life that was never given permission to be told?

In this 90-minute workshop, participants will use creative writing as a practice for both thinking and documenting. It is a way to honor the lives of their immigrant families and, at the same time, reclaim the stories born of survival and silence. This workshop combines trauma-informed guidance with writing exercises. It explores how words can become a space for healing. Participants will navigate between recounting lived experiences and engaging their imagination between the history they inherited and the history they are creating for themselves.

By the end of the workshop, each person will have a written piece that weaves together memory and self-affirmation, along with tools to continue writing beyond the session.
