This ain’t a workshop for judgment. It’s for real ones trying to do better.
Dominican fatherhood is layered. Some of us grew up with strong, silent fathers. Some of us grew up with ghosts. Some of us are fathers now, trying to show up in ways we never saw.
This session is about all of that: the good, the painful, the unspoken. It’s about the dads who left, the ones who stayed, and the ones who didn’t know how to say, “I love you.”
We’ll talk about machismo, the pressure to be strong, and the moments we were never taught how to feel. We’ll write about parenting through presence, fathering with softness, and healing from what we didn’t get.
Led by Miguel A. Castillo Jr.—writer, Marine veteran, boxing coach, father of three—this workshop invites you to bring your story, your questions, and your willingness to grow.
No capes. No shame.…
