Por la madre que me parió 2
A Women’s History Month Poetry Gathering
The Dominican Writers Association presents Por la madre que me parió 2, a Women’s History Month poetry gathering rooted in one of the most powerful oaths across Caribbean and Latin cultures: to swear by one’s mother.
This evening explores the mother not only as origin, but as woman, body, inheritance, and living archive. Through poetry, performance, and testimony, we examine motherhood as promise and pressure, devotion and demand — a space where love, sacrifice, contradiction, migration, grief, protection, and resistance coexist.
Featuring:
Yaissa Jiménez — poet, performer, and screenwriter whose work moves between ritual, sound, and language, with performances presented internationally and at institutions such as MoMA, BAM, Harvard University, and Wesleyan.
