A Dominican Writers Association Program
The Dominican Writers Association invites high school students and educators to a guided student book discussion centered on In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez.
This live, interactive session offers students the opportunity to engage deeply with one of the most widely taught novels on dictatorship, resistance, and memory in the Dominican Republic. Together, participants will explore how literature preserves history, gives voice to silenced narratives, and invites critical reflection on identity and belonging.
