The importance of reading for children cannot be underestimated. Reading for pleasure can benefit a child’s education, social and cognitive development, wellbeing, and mental health.
Because of the learning potential, the effects of reading on child development are vast and multiple studies have highlighted its benefits. As such, teachers and parents are in a great position to ensure reading is a key part of children’s daily routine.Â

About the Facilitator: Born and raised in the Dominican Republic with a fully bilingual education, I started my career as an assistant teacher at the age of 15. Over the years, I was blessed with opportunities to travel the world teaching ESL, designing curriculums, and doing volunteer work in local communities. These opportunities not only enriched my understanding of the world, but also widened my horizons as an educator.
With over a decade of experience in 30+ different countries, and a Masters in Early Childhood, I chose to open a Daycare center and a Preschool of my own right after settling down in New York to start a family. As a Director, I’ve tested my ability to plan, design and implement curriculums in different regions of the world. I passionately love my work and wish to utilize my skills to educate my son, and help others in my community.
Prior to joining the education field, I’ve worked as a performer, artist and a model whole participating in tv, journals, radio as well as Broadway shows. My journey in the entertainment business begun when I was 3 years old, which eventually led up to having my own TV show in the Dominican Republic when I turned 16.
