Writing from the Womb (WFW) was established in 2013 by Alicia Anabel Santos. She has midwifed 93 students in the WFW over the last seven years and has nurtured and held space for hundreds of writers over the last fourteen years as the founder of the NYC Latina Writers Group @nyclwg. As theWriting Midwife she has help to birth countless stories, essays and poetry. Anabel has spiritually and creatively supported many writers on their journey. For the first time she is offering WFW theMasters Class. This is a six week writing intensive. You will will have sixty pages of prose written by the end of workshop.Â

WFW INTENTION:
Who can attend? While this class is designed as a continuing course for those who have taken the 9-week WFW workshops. If you have attended previous WFW sessions you may signup. If you have never taken a WFW class YES you may attend, but you MUST have more than twenty pages written towards a manuscript. Anyone with a large amount of writing completed in a piece of work is welcome to attend.Â
WFW SESSIONS:
You will receive prompts from the instructor. You will create in a safe space.Â
You will have a writing community online and via text where you support one another long after classes end.Â
You will have a one on one with Alicia to discuss the revision plan and six-week writing goals.Â

WFW EXPECTATIONS:
The course consists of craft lectures on revision and three workshops where you will be required to read a peer's work in progress and offer suggestions for revision. Any additional readings assigned on craft are optional. There will be no homework other than reading peer work and generating new pages, as well as editing and revising your work. You are working on one project for six weeks. During Workshop ONE you will be required to read ten pages of a writer's work and provide feedback. In preparation for the week SIX workshop each writer will read sixty pages of a peer's work and provide generous feedback—this is a close reading. You will a write critique letter to the writer you read.
